As fans of entertainers our voice is often overlooked. We are passed of as simple fans who really don't know to much. The media, with all their experts, reports, opinions, and speculations are often times not the truth. For the first time the fans of Michael Jackson will speak out. False reports and rumors are exposed in this book and the Author provides in depth look at the media theories and speculations. The fans finally have a book that expresses what they know to be the truth about The Icon of Music Michael Jackson. The Author takes you through Michael Jackson life from the viewpoint of a fan. Backed by intense research and interview from noted film-maker and defense witness for Michael Jackson Larry. Nimmer who also wrote this about the book. "You've done excellent research and there were some things that I learned that I didn't know. It was interesting what you had to say about the accusers and about his dad, Joe Jackson. I liked your comparison that Americans will sleep with animals in their bed but they are not accused of bestiality . . . good comparison . . . You've presented a convincing story about people who fabricated stories for personal gain, including the media, at the expense of Michael Jackson . . . great job and very interesting." The author has all my empathy for being Michael's fan, but all the material written is badly organized and emotionally biased. I'm MJ's fan and I like to read good things about him,but based on true and evidence. For me it doesn't matter if MJ was or not gay, if he had or not family problems (who doesn't?) "whatever"... I love his art, his voice, his music, his dance. And I'll always love him as an artist( and as a human being)and accept him with all the excentricities that was part of his personality.

I read this book in under 2 hours. If you are a true MJ fan as this writer is, you will already know the truth about Michael's trials and tribulations and don't need to spend your money on this book. It was nice of this fan to put his thoughts into a book but it was very poorly written and should have been extensively edited for poor grammar and punctuation. We all know that Michael's addiction was first brought on by the Pepsi accident but later perpetuated by the stress of the false accusations, lies and betrayals of those he thought could be trusted and the outrageous media campaigns against him. Who could live stress free and sleep well under those conditions? In a nutshell, the media, Tom Sneddon, the Chandlers and the Arvisos are what sent Michael down this path of self destruction and Dr. Murray injected the final dose. Michael was persecuted from 1993 until his death. This wonderful man and the greatest of entertainers did not deserve this treatment. Why didn't anyone bring the true Michael Jackson to the public spotlight and defend him before this tragedy? Although some tried, the message wasn't loud and clear enough for all of the ignorant, tabloid hungry public. I recommend the following books to read how the justice system and media really treated Michael: Redemption by Geralidine Hughes and Conspiracy by Aphrodite Jones. You should also read Michael's book Moonwalk.

I loved this book because it is the opposite of all the tabloid trash written, except for one thing - it is also spin. But, thankfully, Shawn's spin is from the heart of a soulful person while media spin comes only from the pocketbook. This book is not full of proven facts NOR fabricated lies. It has a different perspective, which is the author's own, on the main controversies that Michael Jackson battled for much of his life as well as little known facts that the media all but ignored.
How could Michael's life had been different if the media had focused on the genuine side of Michael that Shawn did? Would we have paid more attention while MJ was alive? I know I would have. I did not hate him - I had just dismissed him, and I am sure that came from the constant negative messages on the "news". I will always wish that somehow someday they could be held accountable.
I commend Shawn for NOT writing a book FOR publishers. IMHO, I think he instead wrote his book for people who want to open their minds and see the other very apparent side of the issues that the media tried to kill. And I believe the useless energy of repeated media spin is a large part of what actually killed Michael. (See pg. 72, second paragraph. Really good take on Michael's stress - consider it!)
That being said, I could only rate this book with 3 stars because of the many grammar and punctuation errors. It needed an editor to clean it up, alot. I was very disappointed about that because I see this book as one that could be great to share with someone who doesn't know what they think about MJ's situation yet and is open to new explanations. It is easy to follow (not a lot of legal jargon) and short (91 pages) - I think a non-fan would consider investing time in this one. People rarely understand how strongly I feel about MJ's innocence, my grief over the injustices he faced, and my complete distrust now of mainstream media since I have read so much about Michael since his death. While I, on the other hand, continue to not understand their strong sense of condemnation for him without doing any research on their own at all. It would be good to have something such as this to hand them if they are interested at all. If it had been edited better.
Nonetheless, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to support Michael's true legacy, and I will donate it also to my local library, along with every other book I can find about Michael that IS NOT a gossip book. The book also contains many wonderful black and white drawings of MJ as well. Beautiful!

I really wanted to rate this book higher, but I could not. While the author makes a great statement, I felt it lacked substance to back it up. The author continually claims it is an unbiased view, which is accurate, however it came across to me more of an opinion piece rather than a factual debate. Also, there were many misspellings and sentence corrections that could have benefited from an editor. I really feel bad not being able to rate this higher as I had great expectations and hope for this book. For this reader it just lacked teeth to go along with the title....I am sorry I could not give it a five.

This book should be on the shelves. Sad it has to be ordered. Once again the truth is being hidden and hard to find. Positive, truthful, supportive. If you are
sick of the trash and bashing of MJ this is a book to get.
