Brawling, womanizing, drinking "professional Irishman", or misunderstood, courageous and creative actor? Michael Feeney Callan, who has known Richard Harris for over 20 years, sets out to show that he is all of those things, by examining his career, his excesses and troubled periods.

If youre a fan of Richard Harris, as I am ,you'll enjoy this biography very much. Richard Harris's life was eccentric on-screen and off; a truly gifted talent of cinema. I recommend watching Man in the Wilderness, Juggernaut, or the Cassandra Crossing. Watch Harris(in fine form) in the Harry Potter movies. Also, Pick up one of his music cds if you can.

A fascinating inside look at the Bulls.

            Amazon.com Review

Unless you slept through the 1990s, you probably know that Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls ran roughshod over the NBA for the better part of a decade. Like the Lakers before them and the Celtics before that, the Bulls have sustained a level of play that is simply unmatched by their contemporaries. But there's a dark cloud to this red and black lining. In writing Blood on the Horns, author Roland Lazenby followed the team through the '97-'98 campaign as they struggled to attain their sixth NBA title in the past seven years. While it was no secret that a rift had for years existed between the Bulls' management and players, by season's end Lazenby found that bad blood, bruised egos, and harsh words had created an untenable and openly hostile atmosphere. "Where there's money and success and vast public attention, there are usually immensely complicated personality conflicts." And that goes double for the Chicago Bulls. To decipher the mixed messages surrounding this internecine power struggle, Lazenby conducted extensive interviews with superstars and role players, determining who said what to whom, when it happened, and why. The story he uncovers is an intriguing melodrama, equal parts fascination and despair. Men may very well be boys, but it's shocking to find one of the greatest dynasties in the history of basketball tearing itself apart over what amounts to a pissing match. --George Laney

"Blood on the Horns scores, and scores big!" 2002-05-08
By Rob Mitros (Chicago, IL, USA)
Ever wonder how and why the internal conflict of the multi-World Champion Chicago Bulls began? Well, this book explains that, and much more. From the origin of Jerry Krause's nickname, 'Crumbs', to Dennis Rodman's shaky start in life to blossoming into one of the NBA's best rebounders, Lazenby covers every detail painstakingly. I live in Chicago, so I found this very informative, because Lazenby allows each side to speak their mind, for the Chicago press always made Jerry Krause look like the bad guy. If you think Krause WAS the bad guy, your opinion may or may not change after reading this book. Personally, it just solidified my opinion that Krause caused the breakup of the greatest dynasty in sports. My final opinion: If you were ever curious about the Bulls conflict and followed it throughout the 90s, or even if you're a casual Bulls fan, you will not be able to put this book down. Pick it up, and enjoy "The Long Strange Ride of Michael Jordan's Chicago Bulls."

"Not enough material to fill a book without repeating" 2002-05-04
            By C. Schwartz
The author writes well. The subject is interesting. But, it's the same thing over and over. If you read 1/3 of the book, you've read it all. Any third will do. Just too much of the same stuff over and over. (Repetition is boring, isn't it.)

             "Much Better Than Mindgames...." 2001-08-03
            By
The author followed this book up with Mindgames...about Phil Jackson. It is obvious that much of the authors research was used in both books, this book does a better job of conveying inside information. The sources are similiar in both books (Winters, Schaefer, Kerr) but this seems to stay consistent with the title. As mentioned earlier, Mindgames, has similiar information, but you are expecting to read about Jackson, not the Bulls in general. Read this and skip Mindgames if you are Bulls fan or looking for information about Jackson.

             "A MUST BUY!" 2000-06-13
By Darren P. Toohey (New York, NY, United States)
I loved this book. It is all about the break up of the Bulls. It gives an in-depth look at the 1998 season and provides interesting interviews with all the parties involved. My thought, both the owner and the GM of the Bulls caused the break up of one of the best sports franchises in history. If you like basketball or the Bulls, BUY THIS BOOK!

Contents were interesting enough but constant insertion/omission of words and sometimes grammatical errors made it very hard to concentrate on contents. Don't publishers proof read anymore?

              Product Description

From the international star of "Riverdance", "Lord of the Dance" and, now, "Celtic Tiger", comes a no-holds-barred autobiography that reveals the person, the passion and the drama behind Michael Flatley's astonishing career. Michael describes growing up as the son of Irish immigrants in a tough Chicago neighbourhood and the many years he struggled to make real his dream of becoming a professional Irish dancer. He was in his mid-thirties when he was asked to create "Riverdance" for the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest, bursting onto our television screens with a dazzling dance sequence. Just as his dreams were being realised, Michael was shattered when he and "Riverdance" parted company. Now Michael explains what really happened backstage and describes how he went on to create the enormously successful "Lord of the Dance". Michael also deals openly with the controversies that have surrounded his success, such as the 2003 rape charge, his turbulent love life and the illness and injuries that have threatened his career. Filled with commentary from family, friends and colleagues and brimming with Michael's Irish charm and good humour, this book is the very personal story of a man who has lived life to the fullest according to his own credo: nothing is impossible.

By Irish Dancer fan (Buffalo,NY USA)
Michael Flatley never fails to impress; this show is similar to "Feet of Flames" which is actually much better onscreen; but whomever filmed this one seemed inexperienced with capturing the lighting properly so that the action onstage is nice and clear. The disc itself was fine; but the amateurish quality of the camera work regarding the lighting made it hard to see the dancers defined at all. A better purchase would be "Feet of Flames" also by Michael Flatley, which is superb in every way.

A Song for You: Reality is a true story of a man's continued journey through life, singing life's praises with determination to endure the challenges along the way, reaching its end, with a song for you. His persistence in learning to play the sax and playing it when others said he never would, is the testimony to the resilience needed to reach ones' goal in life. This book is a song of hope and healing for anyone and everyone who is experiencing the realities of life, be it a life threatening illness, such as cancer or conflicts in the family that grow into secrets unspoken until becoming cancerous having to be removed. Through friendships, each having its own season, he comes to understand the melody of drama, the harmony of peace and the chords of sensitivity bound together making sense out of the pain and suffering that are like signs to live by on life's journey. Having had a spiritual awakening to the silent and private pain of his mother, the author sees the reflection of her resilience. He recognizes it in other women and provides an opportunity for other men to experience it. This is a "must read" book.

                      Product Description

A star from the age of 11, Michael Jackson s unrivalled success spanned five decades beginning with his brothers in the Jackson 5 in 1968, through a solo Motown career as a teen-idol in the early 70s (when he concurrently fronted the maturing Jacksons), and as a remarketed pop genius from the 1980s on. While the success of Thriller, the best-selling album in history, would not have been possible without production maestro Quincy Jones, Jackson s combined abilities as a supreme vocalist, dance provocateur, music video pioneer, songwriter and live performer simply know no equal. As an entertainer he was, above all, a perfectionist. As a human being he was, above all, an imperfectionist - unable and unwilling to live a normal life. Perhaps more than any other icon, Jackson s music magically transcended race, geography, sex, genre, age and color - a remarkable achievement for a shy, troubled boy who never grew up. While his untimely death in June 2009 shook the world, it is Jackson s musical legacy which will rock the world for generations to come. In this book, the equal triumph and tragedy of his extraordinary journey is objectively revealed through a unique visual and narrative chronology.

Before you even open this book you notice the amazing artwork on the cover. Before this, I had never thought that a handful of almost wasted felt-tipped markers could be used so effectively to display confidence, yet defensiveness of this great man.

After reading the book you believe Michael to be much more than a child prodigy millionaire with a string of hits and his own amusement park, that just happens to have a taste for plastic surgery. This, as Selena rightfully states, is none of my business and is right to think so. But through he self-improvement he has become a spokesperson to multinationalities.

Although this book gives absolutely no insight into the life of Michael Jackson whatsoever (which shouldn't interest us anyway) it does show the way in which he has influenced his fans to the brink of devotion and how anybody can get a book deal in America, the land of opportunists.

                          I particularly liked page 17.

This book easily transcends the modern classics of our time combining raw energy with insane lament and illustrating new dimensions to Michaels face that I've never seen! The writer shows fearless comparisons between Michael and Jesus and by the end of the book all misconceptions about this amazing man becomes aware. Is he Jesus? This reader believes.."damn Trinity--I is no you ain't do that"

The book was just sad and pathetic . Lonely repetitive mopings of someone using an obsession to fill a lonely and pointless life. There is nothing much here besides a plea for psychiatric help. Just awful. Gushings from the the worst kind of fan - illiterate and ungifted.

This book tells about young Thomas Jackson as an orphan in Ohio. He went to many different places like his Uncle Brake's. In the end he went to West Point.

As a lieutenant in the United States Army, he performed an amazing win over the Mexican forces. He was an artillery officer, and with his light artillery went toward the strong castle of Chapultepec. The Mexican troops killed or wounded all his unit except Jackson and another man. The two of them with two cannon weakened the fortress so much that the Americans stormed over the castle walls and took it.

The book goes on about his career as an officer and general in the Confederate Army.

I liked this book because it was pretty interesting. I didn't like this book because it made you feel like you were in an airplane over the battle, and not really at the battle. That is why I gave it only three stars.

Is the author have a medical background. It is a huge leap assume that the drugs in question where used for alcohol withdrawal. They are also used for insomnia. When will this endless line of people trying to make money of Michael Jackson ever end.

                              By TheAuthorOfThisBook (USA)
I am the author of this book. I wrote it because I was curious regarding the manner of Michael Jackson's death, and wanted to dig beneath the headlines. After doing a lot of research in medical journals, it turned out that several of the benzodiazepine drugs that Michael Jackson had in his body when he died are commonly used to treat alcohol withdrawal. Both insomnia and anxiety are common symptoms of alcoholism. Michael Jackson had three benzodiazepine drugs that are routinely used to treat this problem in his body when he died. This book includes over a hundred medical journal source references to back up this conclusion, so anyone who wants to check up on what I found out can look up the same references and will inevitably come to the same conclusion. This book was written to find out the truth, meaning medical facts, about what really happened to Michael Jackson. Those who are looking for something other than the truth should look elsewhere.

I can't help but wonder what your true agenda is other than to extract money from hard working people in a very rough economy, by putting Michael Jackson's name on the cover.Or perhaps to continue to slant the story to continue the cover-up of the truth. I can only imagine this will only fuel those non supporters and also add to the tedious task of selecting a jury if the judicial system ever gets to that point. I can only conclude you are not a Jackson supporter let along someone who seeks and supports the TRUTH, only someone who pounces upon an opportunity to make money of a tragic death while and investigation is ongoing and the family is still in mourning. Shame on you !!! Needless to say I do not support your book nor will I buy it.

Pictorial representations of this "Record Clock" (Retail: $99) have been included in this book since its first publication.

<>The explosive definitive account of the Michael Jackson saga, chronicling the King of Pop's battles against child molestation charges from 1993 to 2005, from award-winning journalist

Diane Dimond, who broke the story first, over twelve years ago

Michael Jackson has long captured the world's attention, first as the dynamic lead singer of the Jackson Five, then during his highly successful breakout solo career. But somewhere along the line Jackson transformed himself into something hardly recognizable and was investigated -- not once, but twice -- for crimes we could hardly imagine.

Even now, after his unexpected acquittal on multiple charges of child molestation, there is a sense that the real truth behind the allegations is not known. The character of Michael Jackson -- from his humble beginnings to his rich career and the birth of Neverland Ranch -- is destined for great debate among fans, journalists, historians, and psychiatrists for years to come. In the meantime, there is Diane Dimond, the journalist of record on the Jackson case.

In November 2003, when the Santa Barbara county sheriff's department conducted another raid on Neverland Ranch, Diane Dimond and her camera crews were the only ones there to capture the moment and report the news to the world. Now, for the first time, Dimond recounts the multifaceted details of the Jackson case, utilizing her extensive notes and sources. What she tells us is a shocking story.

Be Careful Who You Love will take you behind the scenes and into the courtroom of one of the most controversial cases of the decade, while giving readers a dramatic glimpse of one reporter's vigilance and unending quest to uncover the truth.

"Sad, sad piece of fiction" 2009-12-27
                                By Blackjet88 (Decatur, GA USA)
I had to make myself read this book, which I did not purchase (thank God),to the end. I borrowed it from the Library. It was so obviously biased against Micheal Jackson, and so pro-prosecution that it was disgusting. She started the book by relating what had to have been the most humiliating experience Micheal Jackson had ever had - the strip search. It was done with such glee on her part. She seemed really happy to talk about how angry, uncooperative (wouldn't you be?) and hostile he was. She spoke of it with relish that it really made me sick. I felt for him having strangers looking at and photographing his nude body and genitals. What happened to the objectivity that should have been displayed by this self proclaimed professional journalist?

Another issue I had was her ability to gain access to confidential documents through inappropriate means, such as the case record on Jordan Chandler, including the psychiatrists notes, which she quotes. What??? And nothing was ever done/said about that. That was not supposed to happen. The people involved in allowing her access should have lost their jobs, gone to jail and she should have too. What was done was against the law.

I think that she thought that her use of one of Micheal's own lyrics as the title of the book was clever. I thought it was sad just like everything else about this book.

She had direct contact with Sneddon and the DA's office. That was so inappropriate. Oh well, that was/is so Diane Dimond. What a waste of time.

Firs off, for people who actually think that Dian Demon is a real journalist, Think again. She has been after Michael Jackson for about 16 years now. Even After his passing, She has no shame at all.

Second of all, All that is in this book is NOT the reality. She got most of her info. from a NON-credible source! One writes a book about another person, when YOU KNOW THE OTHER PERSON! But I guess Money is More important than Honesty in Demons case right? This Book the funniest and most ridiculous book i've ever seen. Even after Michael was acquitted, DEMON says he still is guilty! Well Demon, let me ask you this, Were you there when those alleged incidents happen? Wasnt she the one who conformed that Michael was FRAMED on a TV Show after 1993? I mean Damn, How much $$$ Does it take to destroy a Man's life? HE has done SO MUCH to help the world and its people (Literally) and what has DEMON done, Destroy people's lives! I dont know why she's soo jealous of Michael. Is it because he's black? I mean DANG woman, get a life!

And for y'all who gave this book 5*, You're more dense than i thought! Ofcourse you'd believe what DEMON has said cuz you dont want the reality! Y'all are one of the most racist ppl. i've ever come across. and MICHAEL WAS/IS LOVED in the Middle east, AFRICA, EUROPE, ASIA and here in the U.S./ Well some ppl. are ignorant enough not to admit it! He will live Forever unlike Diane DEMON! Nobody is gonna glace at her when she dies...and thats for sure. She is one of the contributors to Michael's Death. Thankyou Diane for showing your true self. It is very refreshing to see that. God help you in your life cuz really what goes around comes around! And you better believe that what you have done to Michael, is gonna come and bite you in the @$$!!!

Diane Dimond is a fired Inside Edition and Court TV reporter who desperately tried to do something to salvage her, ahem, career.

A two minute google of information on both the Jordie Chandler lawsuit and the Arvizo trial makes this book nothing more than mullet wrapper. The Michal Jackson employees; fired, disgruntled, given money the tabloids to weave a tale.

Every lie by this woman can be refuted by research. She needs to hang her head in shame.

The sad issue is that now that Michael has passed, the witch hunt has stopped. But, for the longest time, the media, the unsated, immoral, money at all cost frenzy tortured Jackson. To hell with his reputation.

Bashir, all the tabloids, Dimond, TV, and newsprint all had a hand in the worst lynching of a black man that I have seen.

All for the God forsaken dollar.

Man, after reading the book, i had a feeling that it was a novel/a fiction book. (for example, the author's description of the scene Dr Chandler walking through the lobby of his office building,... and so much more redundant details...)

This book contains so many imaginary stories, which are, of course, against Jackson ridiculously. If Dimond wants her book to be taken seriously, she shouldn't convert it into a novel. So, we just read it for fun, i think - no credibility.

                                Rate: 5-

You will ponder over the details for hours and relish in all the wonderfully executed timelines, family tree and trivia. I will cherish this forever. This is hands down the best hardback tribute to the King of Pop.

This book is set up to look more like a scrap book. It has copies of things like concert tickets, letters from Ronald Reagan, a patent on Smooth Criminal shoes, trivia quizes, and even a Mj will and death certificate. A little tacky but I liked it. It's a positive spin on MJ. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I just got the MJ Opus and it cost me $250. Wow! The Opus is fantastic! This book was around $40 and was well worth it for the money.

A sweet collection of MJ's whole life~I truely love this book and it's really a tribute to MJ comparing to some other tabloidlike magazines and books. Must have!!

                                     "Thrown together" 2009-12-10
                                    By Hibbie (Fort Collins, CO)
This book was definitely thrown together at the last minute - There are many typos and other errors, and on one page there are two identical captions for the same photos. The information and pictures are ones that can be found elsewhere. I found the "scrapbook" style rather cheesy, and annoying because the stuff falls out easily. In fact, 4 of the pockets were missing whatever had been in them, and some items crushed rather than neatly folded as if the book was used. The only things of interest were the copies of his patent and his will, and examples of his hand-written lyrics. Might be worth the money for only the hard-core fans.
